It’s official! CRA is going Federal. And we’re ready!

In fourth quarter of 2015, co-chief executive officers Caryn Foster Durham and Susan Lavenski purchased CRA from outside investors, now making it one of the largest and most experienced women-owned communications firms in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Caryn and Susan have worked at CRA for 22 and 19 years, respectively.

One of the first items of business for the new owners was to pursue opportunities as a women-owned business.

Recently, CRA became a certified women-owned small business through the Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The WOSB Federal Contracting Program was implemented with the goal of expanding the number of industries where WOSB companies are able to compete for business with the federal government.

The program allows CRA to compete for federal contracts that are set aside for women-owned small businesses in industries where they (women-owned small businesses) are substantially underrepresented.

“We are very excited about this new designation,” Caryn said. “It provides us with a potentially substantial growth opportunity we haven’t had in the past by allowing us to pursue different kinds of business within the federal government,” she said.

“Our agency has 43 years of experience providing communications strategies for clients across the country,” Susan added. “But having the opportunity to pursue federal contracts as a women-owned business allows us the avenue to continue to grow our company and make this a priority in our five-year strategic business plan.”
