CRA teams up with HealthSmart and Friends Helping Friends WV to provide Christmas gifts to families affected by this past summer’s flooding in Clay County, W.Va.
“These families lost so much, and as we’ve seen time and again throughout the Mountain State, they were working within their communities to recover and move forward,” said Craig Julien, Senior Vice President of HealthSmart’s Eastern Operations. “They’re still on the road to recovery, though. Friends Helping Friends WV is working tirelessly to make the holiday’s a little better for so many families, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
Friends Helping Friends WV is a local volunteer effort dedicated to assisting dozens of families impacted by flooding that damaged parts of West Virginia in June 2016.
During the holidays, organizations and companies like HealthSmart are working with Friends Helping Friends WV to “adopt” families and directly give those families Christmas presents and other supplies, such as blankets, heaters and gift cards.
“It’s been six months since the flooding, but so many in the region continue to struggle,” said Brandi Jones, founder of Friends Helping Friends WV. “We’re working to provide them with the things they both want and need for Christmas. Our goal is to make the season a little brighter and a little warmer for them.”
HealthSmart and CRA employees worked together throughout the past two weeks to purchase gifts, collect donations and wrap.
On Monday, Dec. 19 employees from both companies delivered presents directly to four families.
“We were honored to help spread some holiday cheer and meet these loving families,” said CRA CEO Susan Lavenski. “After a year filled with adversity and tragedy, they deserve a merry Christmas. Friends Helping Friends WV is making a wonderful difference for so many.”
