Lead Virginia’s mission is to build a strong network of high-performing, solutions-oriented leaders in the commonwealth. Never has that leadership been needed more than in 2020, with communities facing an unprecedented pandemic as well as the upheaval brought about by continuing racial injustice. Lead Virginia alumni across the commonwealth and the nation leapt into action to help their communities navigate through uncertainty. These stories needed to be told, and Lead Virginia looked to CRA for a way to package them and share them with their audience.
CRA worked with Lead Virginia’s Communications Committee to develop the Leaders in Action campaign. We remotely gathered stories from leaders in new ways: Some recorded themselves on video, we interviewed others over video conference, and some gave their story in writing. CRA then edited these stories into posts and videos that Lead Virginia could share on their website and across their social feeds, demonstrating the impact of the social capital developed within each class.
“One challenge that we’ve faced over the years is being able to communicate the full benefit and experience of a Lead Virginia class,” said Matt Fidler, CRA’s Chief Creative Officer and graduate of Lead Virginia. “This gave us the opportunity to share the examples of exceptional leaders, and also highlight the benefits of building leadership networks through Lead Virginia.”
